As requested, a Safety Electrical Inspection are done to make sure that all electrical wirings and fittings on all Installations are in compliance with Tonga current electrical code and standards and also to ensure that it’s safe to be occupied in terms of electrical safety.
OVERSIGHT AUTHORITY
The Electricity Commission’s Technical Manager and Deputy Technical Manager are the Commission’s Public Safety oversight authority (Electrical Inspector) and operate the Permit Regime under full delegated authority except only
1) where an issue of policy arises
2) concerning any change to the Fees charged, where such matters are referred to the Commissioner for resolution.
What we can do for you…
Technical Manager or Deputy Technical Manager can issue Certificate of Completion when the electrical works have been carried out in strict accordance with –
- Permit Application
- Plans and Specification
- Electrical Wiring Rules and Regulations adopted by Electricity Commission
1. Main switchboard using HRC Fuse.
The main switchboard and other Installations is still using HRC fuses for its protections which is not complies with Tonga current Electrical Regulations (AS/NZS 3000:2007).
2.Broken panel
Sub/board multi-switch is broken. Switches panel used celotape to close which is unsafe. To replace with a safer switch. Feed wire from switchboard had a direct contact with metal part of switchboard and the switch panel
3. Exposed Switchboard
Switchboard exposed and has no cover. Insufficient bus bar for both Earth and Neutral wire where wires are just connected together by twisting and connector.
